Basic Concept of the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM)

The JCM facilitates diffusion of leading decarbonizing technologies, products, systems, services, and infrastructure as well as implementation of mitigation actions, and contributes to sustainable development of Costa Rica.
It appropriately evaluates contributions from Japan to GHG emission reductions or removals in a quantitative manner, and Japan uses them to achieve its NDC.

Costa Rica and Japan signed a bilateral document for the introduction of the JCM on December 9th, 2013.
