Basic Concept of the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM)

The JCM facilitates diffusion of leading decarbonizing technologies, products, systems, services, and infrastructure as well as implementation of mitigation actions, and contributes to sustainable development of the Republic of India.
It appropriately evaluates contributions from Japan to GHG emission reductions or removals in a quantitative manner, and Japan uses them to achieve its NDC.

The Republic of India and Japan signed the Memorandum of Cooperation to start the JCM on August 7th, 2025.
